Product Info Reducers
Reducers are mechanical device that outputs power obtained from the output shaft of a power source such as a motor by reducing the rotational speed using gears.
The ratio of the number of gear teeth on the input and output sides is the reduction ratio, and the torque at the output shaft is inversely proportional to the reduction ratio.
Our line-up includes three gear types - helical gears, hypoid gears and worm gears - which can be selected according to the motor specification, shaft arrangement (parallel or right-angle shaft) and output shaft shape (solid or hollow) to suit the purpose.

Worm Reducer (Worm Power Drive / Troi Drive)
Worm reducer is geared reducer (gearboxes) using worm gears. Unlike other types of gear transmissions, it make sliding contact, resulting in extremely low vibration and noise, and a large reduction ratio (generally 1/10 to 1/60) can be achieved with a pair of worm gears.
In addition, it is a gear that can be expected to have a reverse rotation prevention (Self-Locking) effect.

Tsubaki's worm reducers use two types of worm gears: a drum-shaped type and a cylindrical type.
The drum-shaped type (toroidal worm) offers high transmission capacity and compact equipment, while the cylindrical type (cylindrical worm) optimizes capacity, efficiency, and cost.
A wide range of variants are available for a variety of applications.

Basic Knowledge of Worm Reducer
The worm reducers rotate by engaging a worm connected to the input shaft and a worm wheel connected to the output shaft.
If the worm has one worm thread, the worm wheel advances one tooth for each worm revolution. If the worm has 1 thread and the worm wheel has 100 teeth, the reduction ratio is 1/100.
Internal Structure of Worm Reducer

The features of the worm reducer are as follows.
- - Double reduction ratio
A large reduction ratio (generally 1/10 to 1/60) can be obtained with a pair of worm gears. - - Low Noise
Unlike other gear transmission methods, the sliding contact reduces vibration and noise to an extremely low level. - - Self-locking with no rotation from output shaft side to input shaft side
Generally, a self-locking effect can be expected at a reduction ratio of 1/50 to 1/60.- ※Tsubaki Worm Reducers are limited to 1/60 because of the emphasis on efficiency.
- ※Self-locking effect may be reduced by shock or vibration.
Since self-locking cannot be guaranteed, be sure to install a separate holding device when a secure stop or retention is required.
- - Stable rotation speed
Generally, it has less rotation variation than other reduction mechanisms, making it suitable for semiconductor manufacturing and other situations where rotation variation may affect product quality.
