Worm reduction gears that achieves unparalleled space and weight savings

Are you having trouble with these things?
- Space is too small to install…
-
The reducer is inevitably large enough to move the load required for the equipment, and it cannot be installed inside the equipment.
Is there a compact, high-power reducer anywhere?
- Want to reduce uneven rotation…
-
Uneven rotation will affect the finished accuracy of the final product.
Is there a reducer with small rotational unevenness somewhere?
- I'm concerned about noise…
-
I want to use it for equipment that requires quietness.
Is there a quiet reducer anywhere?
We can solve such problems!
High Performance Worm Reducer
『Troi Drive 』
↑ Play video
Worm reducer with cylindrical worm gears are known for their high load capacity, shock resistance, and quietness among general reducer. Troi Drive maximizes its performance.
The secret is a high-precision troidal worm with a waist that matches the curve of the worm wheel. By greatly increasing the number of teeth simultaneously engaged with the worm wheel, Troi drive achieves both higher load capacity and higher efficiency than a cylindrical worm.
Cylindrical Worm Gear

Number of teeth engaged :1.7 to 2 teeth

Troidal Worm Gear

Number of teeth engaged :4 to 6.5 teeth
High transmission and high efficiency thanks to a large number of simultaneously engaged teeth!
Why Troi Drive?
1.High power, lightweight and compact
Typically, worm reducer is selected for applications that require high load capacity because they provide a higher reduction ratio than other types of reduction gears. Among them, Troi Drive has a higher load capacity due to its high-precision Troidal worm. For the same size, the Troi Drive has 1.5 to 2 times the load capacity compared to general-purpose cylindrical worm gears, so two sizes smaller frame numbers can be selected for the same load conditions.
Troi Drive is the most compact of all right-angle gear reducers. Contributes to space and weight saving of equipment.
Torque comparison Frame size 200, input 1750r/min

The high load capacity allowed us to reduce the size of the reducer, and as a result, we were able to make the equipment more compact!

2.Stable rotation speed
Compared to general-purpose cylindrical worm gear reducers, the Troi Drive has a large number of simultaneously engaged teeth, resulting in less uneven rotation and the smallest angle transmission error among all gear reducers using gears.

Number of teeth engaged
![]() |
4 to 6.5 teeth |
General-purpose cylindrical worm gears | 1.7 to 2 teeth |
Angular velocity variation

The final product is more accurate than competitor' cylindrical worm reducer because of less uneven rotation!

3.Silent and smooth operation
Unlike other types of reducers, worm reducer makes sliding contact, resulting in extremely low vibration and noise. Troi Drive has extremely improved tooth profile accuracy, resulting in even quieter and smoother rotation. Also, for the same load capacity, the size can be smaller than that of a general-purpose cylindrical worm reducer, further reducing noise.
It can be safely employed in applications where quietness is required!

Semiconductor and LED manufacturing process
Lapping Machine
Troi Drive is used in the drive unit of equipment used to polish silicon and sapphire wafers.
- Adopting model(s) :TD125S20VRF
- Package :Center distance 125, reduction ratio 1/20
- Reason for adoption: This is the deciding factor!
-
Low angle transmission error (rotational fluctuations)
Has 1/10 the angle transmission error of helical, bevel, and other reduction mechanism. The smooth rotation provides better final product finishing.

Rechargeable Battery manufacturing process
Winding and unwinding, turret equipment
Troi Drive is used in the drive units of equipment for applying electrode material to metal foil and rolling.
- Adopting model(s) :TD150H60BRF、TD150H60BLF
- Package :Center distance 150, reduction ratio 1/60
- Reason for adoption: This is the deciding factor!
-
Compact even at high reduction ratio
Compared to other types of reducers, worm reducer is compact and can achieve high reduction ratios. With Troi Drive, two sizes smaller than general-purpose cylindrical worm reducer can be used with the same load capacity.
-
Less uneven rotation
By minimizing uneven rotation, the film thickness of the electrode material is made uniform, contributing to improved quality of the final product.

Rubber and Resin manufacturing process
Calendar Roll
Troi Drives are used to adjust the gap between rolls on a calendar roll, which smooths out rubber or resin surfaces.
- Adopting model(s) :TDM200H1800VL-RF370Y
- Package :Center distance 200, reduction ratio 1/1800, Special type with integrated motor
- Reason for adoption: This is the deciding factor!
-
Compact and high power
The high transmission capacity from the drum-type worm gear contributes to more compact equipment. The use of a 1/60 worm on the low-speed side is expected to provide self-locking (reverse rotation prevention), which prevents the reaction force of the load from being transmitted to the motor and prevents motor trouble.

FAQ
Q:How efficient is the Troi Drive?
A:It depends on the reduction ratio and input shaft (motor) rotation speed.
The diagram on the right shows an efficiency comparison for size 200 and input 1750 r/min. Compared to competitors' general-purpose cylindrical worms, it is extremely high-efficiency.

Q:We are thinking of replacing other companies products, how to get the reference data?
A:Please access below link, our special site designed to help users find equivalent products from other companies products. For the ability, appearance, dimensions and other specifications, be sure to confirm details in the product catalog.
Q:Is low backlash specification available?
A:It's available. The thrust gap of worm shaft is reduced to cut back on the backlash in the gear section. The backlash can be further reduced by remaking reducer case or worm gear. Please contact us for details.
Q:What are the conditions for selection?
A:The main conditions for worm reducer selection are: 1. Equipment name 2. Motor size and speed 3. Output shaft torque or load torque 4. Output shaft speed or reduction ratio 5. Output shaft style and shaft arrangement 6. Output shaft load 7. Operating hours (per day) 8. Starting frequency (per hour) 9. Ambient temperature.
However, if the moment of inertia is large, special attention needed when using in lifts or turnover devices. Please contact us for details.
