Chain type pin gear

Uses a chain and gear for drive by transmitting power from the drive source (motor) to the reducer for linear drive or rotational drive over large radii.

Chains need plenty of space, and gears need precision processing, facing users with high costs and other issues. Pin gears are the perfect solution for this.

An attachment chain is wrapped around a drum to form a wheel in place of a gear drive wheel, and a specially machined sprocket is used as a pinion gear.

For linear drive, an attachment chain is installed linearly instead of a rack.

The following is a rough comparison with gear rack systems.

Chain type pin gear sprocket

Unlike with normal winding drives, the chain engages the pin gear sprocket and so special teeth profiles are required.

Based on unique theories developed by Tsubaki, the teeth profiles are shaped to provided the least amount of backlash for smooth engagement.

For inner and outer drives especially, we change the shape of the tooth profiles to match the installation diameter of the chain for the pin gear on the opposing side for optimal pin gear drive.

Contact a Tsubaki representative and let us help you design the optimal tooth profile for your usage needs.
