Troubleshooting Linear actuator

Linipower Jack

※Most jack problems are caused by a failure in lubrication, selection, or installation.
If any problem arises, follow this troubleshooting guide and take the appropriate measures.

1 Gear housing breakage
2 Input shaft breakage
3 Bearing damage
4 Abnormal wear of travel nut/worm wheel
5 Ball nut damage, abnormal wear
6 Screw shaft breakage, abnormal wear, noise from screw shaft
7 Abnormal surface temperature of gear housing (over 80℃)
Answers
1 Gear housing breakage
Cause 1 Overload Action Reduce the load or change the jack to one with an appropriate capacity.
Cause 2 Improper support Action Mount the jack onto a solid platform and align the center accurately.
Cause 3 Shock Action Attach a shock absorber to prevent impact.

2 Input shaft breakage
Cause 1 Improper centering Action A rigid coupling may cause breakage of the shaft. Use a flexible coupling.
Action Adjust the shaft to achieve necessary concentricity.
Cause 2 Excessive overhung load Action Adjust the shaft to achieve the catalog value or less.
Cause 3 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 4 Shock load Action Add a safety device to prevent impact load.
Cause 5 Excessive input Action When several jacks are connected in series, there is a limitation on the input shaft of the first jack due to the axial strength. If the current value exceeds the catalog value, reduce the load or change the jack to one with a larger capacity.

3 Bearing damage
Cause 1 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 2 Excessive overhung load Action Refer to 2 of Input shaft breakage.
Cause 3 Improper centering of the coupling Action Refer to 1 of Input shaft breakage.
Cause 4 Axial adjustment of the coupling Action Adjust the position and length of the coupling so that the input shaft will not receive axial load.
Cause 5 External force to the worm wheel bearing Action Although the specified pressure has been applied to the bearing, the input shaft can be rotated freely when no load is connected. If the rotation is heavy, some force may be applied to the input shaft in the axial direction. Remove the force.
Cause 6 Insufficient lubrication Action Refer to "5. Maintenance/inspection" in this instruction manual and apply necessary lubrication.
Cause 7 Shock load Action Refer to 4 of Input shaft breakage.

4 Abnormal wear of travel nut/worm wheel
Cause 1 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 2 Insufficient lubrication Action Refer to 6 of Bearing damage.
Cause 3 Improper adjustment/installation Action Set the load so that it will be applied onto the same axis as the screw shaft.

5 Ball nut damage, abnormal wear
Cause 1 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 2 Improper adjustment/installation Action Set the load so that it will be applied onto the same axis as the screw shaft.
Cause 3 Insufficient lubrication Action Refer to 6 of Bearing damage.
Cause 4 Inappropriate sizing Action Review the connection between the product life and load in the catalog.

6 Screw shaft breakage, abnormal wear, noise from screw shaft
Cause 1 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 2 Improper adjustment/installation Action Refer to 2 of Ball nut damage.
Cause 3 Side load Action Install a guide to prevent side load.
Cause 4 Insufficient lubrication Action Refer to 6 of Bearing damage.

7 Abnormal surface temperature of gear housing (over 80℃)
Cause 1 Overload Action Refer to 1 of Gear housing breakage.
Cause 2 Insufficient lubrication Action Refer to 6 of Bearing damage.
Cause 3 Improper centering Action Refer to 1 of Input shaft breakage.
Action Refer to 3 of Screw shaft breakage.
