Applications Cam Clutch - 23. Plate-like material painting line
Application
Overrunning
An application to alternately repeat the conditions where the inner and outer races of the cam clutch engage to transmit the torque and where they continue spinning around depending on the difference in the rotation speed or rotation direction. The operation is the same as the free wheeling of a car.

①In the painting system, the wall material passes through ceramic paint falling like a curtain with constant speed. | ②Conveyor speed is slowed down before the materials enter the drying system. | ③Wall materials that have passed through the drying system pick up speed and go to the next process. | |||
※In the part indicated with ■, all rollers are mounted with a cam clutch and the chain is wound in a zigzag pattern. Sprockets are mounted to the outer race side of the cam clutches, and the inner race side is connected to the roller. |

- If the speed changes in the painting process, paint will be applied unevenly.
- The BB cam clutches' overrunning allows for smooth transfer from the fast conveyor to the slow conveyor, without any speed adjustment.
- Even if there is a wall material lingering right outside the painting system when another wall material comes out of the painting system, the latter wall material can push the other one ahead due to the overrunning of the BB cam clutches, enabling the latter wall material to smoothly exit the painting system.
- When the lift decelerates to a speed below the wheel rotation, the cam clutch engages automatically to move the lift at low speed.
Purpose of Use and Operation Overview
During Normal Operation
Each cam clutch is mounted with a sprocket and built into a roller shaft. The rotation of the sprockets is transmitted to the outer race side of the cam clutches, engaging the cam clutches and rotating the rollers to send the materials.
When transferring objects to slow or fast roller
When the fast-side material pushes the slow-side material during its transfer from fast side to slow side, and when the slow-side material is pulled from the fast side during its transfer from the slow side to fast side, the cam clutches overrun, which prevents the materials from rubbing against the rollers.
Advantage of using the cam clutch
- ・Protects materials from damage caused by rubbing against the rollers when moving from the fast conveyor to the slow conveyor.
- ・カムクラッチのオーバランニング機能を利用すると、制御機器を使用する必要はありません。
