200 Series  Handling Precautions

  • 1. This type has no inner race. Since the cam clutch is directly inserted into the shaft, the part of the shaft that engages with the cam clutch should be hardened (surface hardness: 56 to 60 HRC, hardening depth: 1.5 mm or more) and finished by grinding to dimension C on the product page (click here). Keep the taper within 0.01mm per 50mm length and the finished surface roughness less than 1.5S.
  • 2. When installing, bearings should be mounted on both sides of the cam clutch in order to obtain concentricity between the shaft and outer race and to support radial loads on the outer race or shaft. (See installation example )
Use two bearings even if only one side can be mounted.
  • 3. The clutch should be mounted on the shaft by rotating it in the direction marked by the arrow shown on the clutch plate. Do not apply shock to the clutch by hammering.
  • 4. The clutches have the same outside diameters as the bearings shown in the table above. H6 or H7 tolerance is recommended for mounting bores.
  • 5. Please use type-2 of JIS B1301-1959 (old JIS) parallel keys. Note that some key dimensions are not in accordance with the relationship between the shaft diameter and the key as specified by JIS.
  • 6. When a set bolt for pressing the key is installed in the housing where the cam clutch is inserted, be careful not to press the key too hard, as this will distort the outer race of the cam clutch and cause malfunctions.
  • 7. For indexing, oil lubrication is recommended. Use oil for indexing.
  • 8. Concentricity of the housing bore and shaft should be within 0.05 mm.
  • 9. External thrust load should be supported by other devices, not by the Cam Clutch.
  • 10. When continuously overrunning at 700 r/min or more, be careful of heat generation. Sufficient life cannot be expected if the clutch outer race temperature exceeds 70°C. A different series should be selected or the operation conditions should be changed.
