Application
Back stopping
This mechanism prevents reverse rotation. The cam clutch overruns while the machine is operating, and engages to stop the occasional reverse rotation.
Overrunning
An application to alternately repeat the conditions where the inner and outer races of the cam clutch engage to transmit the torque and where they continue spinning around depending on the difference in the rotation speed or rotation direction. The operation is the same as the free wheeling of a car.

Purpose of Use and Operation Overview
This is an example used in equipment which removes mud from automobile tires by making the wheels freewheel on the rollers. The figure above shows dry-type equipment which does not use water. A cam clutch is also used in wet-type equipment which applies a jet of high-pressure water to wash tires. A truck or other vehicle enters from the right side in the figure above and stops in a state where its rear wheels are placed between the mud-removing rollers. The rear wheels are rotated in the forward direction and mud is removed by centrifugal force. During this period, the inner race of the cam clutch is overrunning. After the mud is removed, the vehicle moves backward to get over the rollers. If the rollers are not fixed, the vehicle cannot get over the rollers. So at this point, the cam clutch engages to fix the rollers.

Depending on the load required for the target vehicle or the specifications of the equipment, there are some dimensional limitations such as the rotation speed or shaft diameter of the section where the cam clutch will be mounted.
