Simplified thrust calculation for hydraulic cylinders

・Tsubaki has posted a calculation formula to convert hydraulic cylinder output to power cylinder thrust.
・This calculation formula has been posted for reference purposes only. Please contact a Tsubaki representative for more information.

・Enter the hydraulic cylinder specifications and push the Start Calculating button.

・Please use “.” for the decimal point and not “,” as the calculation error will occur.

Pushing Pulling
Cylinder inner diameter D: mm Pushing side receiving area Aa: mm2
Piston rod diameter d: mm Pulling side receiving area Ab: mm2
Working pressure P (Note 1 ): Mpa
Hydraulic cylinder efficiency (Note 2 ):

Note 1
Please enter a value greater than 1Mpa.

Note 2
Hydraulic efficiency is the ratio of theoretical cylinder thrust to actual load on the cylinder.
Use the following values as guides for hydraulic cylinder efficiency. However, you will need to enter the eventual values that you decide on your own.
 ・Low speed operation (less than 50mm/s): 0.5 to 0.8
 ・Mid-speed operation (51 to 250mm/s): 0.35 to 0.5
 ・High speed operation (over 251mm/s): 0.25 to 0.35

・Results of calculating the conversion of hydraulic cylinder output to power cylinder thrust

Pushing converted thrust (FH)= × × × 10-3 = kN, kgf
Pulling converted thrust (FR)= × × × 10-3 = kN, kgf
