Technical Data  Small size conveyor chain  Types of Chains, Usage and Structure

Small size conveyor chains can be broadly classified into RS Attachment chain and Double Pitch chain, and each can be used according to its own characteristics.

RS Attachment chain and Double Pitch chain

RS Attachment Chains

RS Attachment Chains

  • ・Smooth articulation and high conveying speed.
  • ・RS type standard sprockets can be used for compact design.
  • ・Relatively high accuracy.
Double Pitch Chains

Double Pitch Chains

  • ・High conveying efficiency, and R-rollers also can be installed withstand high load capacity.
  • ・Attachments are wide and number of holes can be selected.
  • ・The number of links per meter is halved of double pitch chain, and the price is lower because the number of links per length is reduced.

RS Attachment Chain Structure

The base chain consists of five parts: pins, bushings, rollers, and inner and outer plates.

The basic structure is the same as the drive chain.

Features of RS Attachment chain
Roller ・S roller only.
Inner and outer plates ・It is a figure 8 shape of RS type.
Sprocket ・RS standard sprockets can be used in most cases.

Double pitch chain structure

The base chain consists of five parts: pins, bushings, rollers, and inner and outer plates.

The basic structure is the same as the drive chain.

Features of Double pitch chain
Roller ・S and R rollers are available.
Inner and outer plates ・Flat shape with twice the pitch of RS type.
Sprocket ・A special sprocket is required for R rollers.
・RS standard sprockets with 30 teeth or more can be used for S rollers.

Use of R and S rollers

Two types of rollers, R rollers and S rollers, can be selected for Double pitch chain.

The R roller features high allowable load and low frictional resistance.

The roller outer diameter is larger than the plate height.

S-rollers have the effect of reducing impact and wear during sprocket engagement.

Also, compared to R-rollers, running resistance is higher, but the weight can be reduced.

Roller outer diameter is smaller than plate height.
